Bat Houses & Condos

Bats are very important to our ecosystem. Countless numbers of insects are consumed and controlled through bats, helping not only the general public, but also farmers. Bats, like other animals, will take advantage of a building or other structure, and may become a nuisance for the property owner. With the help of our nuisance control specialists, a bat house could be installed to lure them away from a building, and exclude them from your living space.

Wildlife Specialists offers a variety of bat house options for you to choose from. Besides a few modifications to promote strength and longevity, all the house models are based on PA Game Commission plans. Listed below are two house models and a bat condo.

Listed below are two house models and a bat condo

1) Small Bat House: Approximate dimensions of box are 4.5" x 18" x 23" (Capacity = 80 bats).

2) Large Bat House: Approximate dimensions of box are 8" x 24" x 36" (Capacity = 250 bats).

3) Bat Condo: Approximate dimensions, with roof, of condo are 6' x 6' x 6' (Capacity = 2000 bats).

Placement of the bat houses/condo is very important to the success of bat usage.  The best locations need to receive at least 10 hours of direct sunlight, be close to water (within one quarter mile), and be close to tree or shrub cover (10-30 yards) to decrease predation. A house or condo should not be set up near burning barrels, within 30 yards of busy highways, or in brightly lighted areas.
