Associate Herpetologist


Phil Dunning specializes in surveys and studies of threatened and endangered species, general herpetological surveys, endangered mammal surveys, biological/ecological assessments, and natural resource inventories. Mr. Dunning received a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Penn State University and a Master of Science degree in Biology/Herpetology from East Stroudsburg University.

Phil is recognized by the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission as a Qualified Timber Rattlesnake Construction Monitor and by the New Jersey Endangered and Threatened Species Program as a Qualified Timber Rattlesnake Biologist and Surveyor.

Mr. Dunning is also experienced in vernal pool surveys, bog turtle surveys, presence/absence determination, and macroinvertebrate sampling.

His environmental/biological work experience includes employment as a wildlife biologist/herpetologist working mostly with northern copperheads and timber rattlesnakes in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as an environmental educator and environmental consultant.
