Green Certification Assistance
Forest Sustainability Certification Preparation and Compliance Assistance
Helping your company achieve Green certification
Wildlife Specialists, LLC, assists clients in achieving Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification. These are the standards for environmentally and socially responsible forest management. Our staff have been intimately involved with conducting certification audits as well as working with landowners to help them comply with the conditions of certification.
Because these audits can be difficult for the uninitiated, we help guide our clients through each step of the process. We help prepare all advanced paperwork in the form of an “assessment” booklet. We identify potential environmental actions that may be necessary to meet certification requirements. Examples of such actions include identification of rare and invasive species that may be present within a landholding; identification and completion of specific types of species surveys that may be required (e.g., habitat suitability assessments and/or presence surveys); mapping of ecosystems and recommendations for reserve areas; identification of High Conservation Value (HCV) Forests; guidelines for protecting water resources. Our staff is recognized by agencies at the state and national level as qualified surveyors for numerous rare, threatened, and endangered species.
We also offer varying levels of packages including an initial evaluation for determining whether the landowner could pass the assessment, preparation of all documents, representation of the landowner during the assessment, follow-up after the assessment, compliance adjustments to management (CARs), and assistance with annual audits and negotiation.
